Pride of ownership is evident throughout this hacienda style home. Talavera tile counter tops and red terra-cotta floors complement tropical hardwood doors and windows. All rooms are air conditioned and both bedrooms have a king size bed and full bath. The bedrooms are separated from the living quarters and all open to an arched terrace and swimming pool surrounded by a beautiful garden.

The villa has a lovely living room, but most guests spend their time relaxing on the large, covered outdoor terrace. This private setting offers a comfortable conversation area as well as a separate dining area, inviting guests to linger from sunrise to sunset. From the terrace, there is an uninterrupted view of the mangrove forest. These forests are part of Mexico's precious natural resources, where exotic birds and animals are often seen and heard.

"We had a perfect week at Casa Esperanza, which exceeded expectations in convenience. It is a charming property, with a lovely garden and pool, attractive art and furnishings, and helpful staff who gave advice and kept us comfortable.

The location could not be bettered; tucked away from the beach and any crowds, the house is nonetheless only a couple of minutes walk to snorkeling, and good restaurants.

The bedrooms are separate from the house proper, which surprised us, although if you read the description carefully that is mentioned. During rain, it could be inconvenient to access the house from the second bedroom, but fortunately we enjoyed perfect weather.

We look forward to making Casa Esperanza a regular destination."

The kitchen is a gourmet cook's delight. Large and spacious, it is equipped with all the modern conveniences to make your stay more comfortable. Just off the living room there is a small terrace, shaded in the morning, making a perfect place to enjoy your first cup of coffee.

A separate study, detached from the main living area, provides a cozy retreat for those who might seek a little solitude during their stay. Here you have privacy to read a good book or take a long nap in air conditioned comfort. The study has a futon for an additional overnight guest.

Esperanza offers the modern conveniences of home with the charm of colonial Mexico, all in the idyllic setting of Akumal. Once you visit, you will not want to leave. Once you leave, you are bound to return.
